About Us

The Department of Japanese Language & Literature takes a systematic look at Japanese language, history and literature. Students will gain skills in reading, writing and speaking Japanese and develop a greater understanding of Japanese literature. This includes not only the ability to converse in everyday situations but also a familiarity with Japanese history, culture and society. The programs of our department will transform the students' perception of Japan as they learn more about its role in the international community and its rich history.
